When Mobility, Pain or Physical Limitations Impact Daily Life

Physical challenges can make everyday activities such as walking, transferring, dressing, or participating in the community more difficult. Without appropriate support, reduced mobility and strength can lead to further limitations, discomfort, and decreased independence over time.

Early and consistent physiotherapy intervention can help maintain function, improve movement capacity, and support long-term physical wellbeing. Our team works collaboratively with participants, families, carers, and support coordinators to ensure therapy aligns with individual NDIS goals.

What Is NDIS Physiotherapy?

NDIS physiotherapy provides evidence-based assessment and treatment for individuals living with disability under the National Disability Insurance Scheme. Treatment focuses on improving functional capacity, mobility, strength, and overall quality of life.

NDIS physiotherapy aims to:

  • Improve mobility, balance, and coordination
  • Increase strength and physical capacity
  • Reduce pain and physical discomfort
  • Support independence in daily activities
  • Prevent secondary complications and deconditioning
  • Work toward participant-specific NDIS goals

Every program is tailored to the individual’s needs, functional level, and long-term objectives.

FAQs

Do I need a referral to access NDIS physiotherapy?

In most cases, you do not need a GP referral to access physiotherapy under the NDIS if it is included in your plan. However, some participants may require supporting documentation depending on their funding category.

Our team can help review your plan to confirm eligibility and ensure services are correctly allocated. If needed, we can also communicate with your GP or support coordinator.

Which NDIS funding categories cover physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is typically funded under the Capacity Building category, particularly Improved Daily Living. In some cases, it may also fall under Core Supports if it directly relates to daily functional assistance.

The exact funding line depends on your individual plan and goals. We can help clarify where physiotherapy fits within your funding structure.

Do you accept self-managed and plan-managed NDIS participants?

Yes, we accept self-managed and plan-managed participants. Self-managed participants can pay directly and claim through the NDIS portal. For plan-managed participants, invoices can be sent directly to the plan manager for processing.

Our administration team ensures billing is handled clearly and efficiently.

How long does an NDIS physiotherapy session run?

Session length can vary depending on the participant’s needs, but standard appointments typically run between 30 to 60 minutes. Longer sessions may be recommended for complex presentations or detailed assessments.

The duration is determined during your initial consultation to ensure sufficient time for effective therapy. Treatment plans are structured to maximise progress within available funding.

Can physiotherapy help prevent functional decline?

Yes, physiotherapy plays an important role in maintaining physical capacity and preventing secondary complications. Regular strength, mobility, and balance training can reduce the risk of falls, joint stiffness, and muscle weakness. Early intervention often leads to better long-term outcomes.

Ongoing therapy helps sustain independence and physical confidence.

What should I bring to my first NDIS physiotherapy appointment?

Bring your NDIS plan, any relevant medical reports, and details of your support coordinator or plan manager if applicable. Comfortable clothing suitable for movement is recommended. If you use mobility aids or assistive devices, bring them to the session.

This allows us to perform a thorough and accurate functional assessment.
